Terms of Service

The agreement

Papez is operated by Astrix Labs Inc. ("we", "us"). By creating an account, connecting an assistant, or otherwise using the hosted service, you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you use Papez on behalf of a company, you confirm you have authority to bind it, and "you" includes that company.

The engine underneath Papez is open source under the GNU Affero General Public License, version 3. That licence, not these terms, governs the source code and anything you run yourself. These terms apply only to the service we host.

Eligibility and accounts

• You must be at least 13 years old, or the age of digital consent where you live, whichever is higher.
• Sign-in is provided by Clerk. Keep your credentials and any connected assistant secure. Activity through your account or a connected assistant is treated as yours.
• Assistants you connect act on your behalf. Review what they store, and disconnect any you no longer trust.
• One person per personal account. Organisations may add members under their own organisation.

Your content

Everything you or your assistants store in Papez is yours. You grant us a limited licence to host, process, encrypt, index, and transmit that content solely to provide the service to you and to those you choose to share it with. The licence ends when the content is deleted, subject to the retention periods in the Privacy Policy.

We do not train models on your content, sell it, or show it to advertisers. Our staff access content only to operate the service, to respond to a request from you, or as required by law, and every administrative action is logged.

You are responsible for what you store and for having the right to store it. If you import conversations, notes, or Notion pages, you confirm you may do so.

Acceptable use

Do not use Papez to:

• store or transmit content that is unlawful, that infringes the rights of others, or that you have no right to hold;
• attempt to access another user's data, probe or disrupt the infrastructure, or evade rate limits and plan limits;
• reverse engineer the hosted service beyond what the open-source licence already permits for the engine;
• resell or wrap the hosted service as your own product without an agreement with us;
• store personal data about other people in ways that would violate applicable privacy law.

Security research is welcome under the disclosure process on the security page.

Plans and billing

Free. The free plan includes the full engine and 300 memory stores per calendar month. Recall, search, and traversal are never limited on any plan; if you reach a store limit, your memory stays fully readable. We may adjust free limits with at least 30 days' notice.

Paid plans. Pro is billed monthly or annually as shown on the pricing page. Payments are processed by Stripe through Clerk Billing. Plans renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from your account; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period, and you keep access until then. Except where the law requires otherwise, payments are not refunded for partial periods.

Founding Member. The Founding Member price of $8 per month is offered to the first 500 members who subscribe on or before December 31, 2026. The price is locked for as long as the subscription remains continuously active. If it lapses or is cancelled, the lock ends and any new subscription is at the then-current price. Founding Member is a price on Pro and includes everything Pro includes.

Price changes. We may change prices for future periods with at least 30 days' notice. Changes never apply to an active Founding Member subscription.

Taxes. Prices exclude taxes unless stated. Where we must collect tax, it is shown at checkout.

The service and changes to it

We work hard to keep Papez available and to keep your memories intact, and we publish how the engine behaves, including our misses. The service is nonetheless provided as is, and features may change. Where a change removes something you rely on, we give notice where feasible. Features marked beta or preview may change or be withdrawn without notice.

Papez connects to platforms we do not control: ChatGPT, Claude, Notion, and the MCP clients you use. Their terms apply to your use of them, and we are not responsible for their availability or behaviour.

Open source

The engine is published at github.com/Astrix-Labs/papez under the AGPLv3. You may run, modify, and distribute it under that licence. Contributions are accepted under the contributor licence agreement in the repository. If you need the engine under different terms, write to us.

Leaving, and termination

You can stop using Papez at any time. Export your graph first, then email [email protected] to erase your account. The Privacy Policy describes exactly what erasure does.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, that threatens the security or integrity of the service, or where required by law. Where feasible we will notify you first and give you the opportunity to export your data.

Warranties and liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any memory will be recalled in a given situation.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Astrix Labs Inc. is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty US dollars if you have paid nothing.

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from content you store or from your breach of these terms. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law rules. Before bringing a claim, contact us at [email protected] and we will try to resolve it informally within 30 days. Courts located in the State of Delaware, United States have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes not resolved that way, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any competent court.

Changes and contact

When we change these terms materially we update the date at the top and, where it matters, notify you directly. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
